I think of Tyler then. Of his white, white-blonde hair and marble lips (the absence of something can burn so much hotter, hotter than a thousand suns) and I think of how he said capitalistic and priest in those perfect discordant notes like they were the same thing. And maybe they were, but Tyler was neither, so I guess it never really mattered at all.
The money in my pocket weighs down on me, and I think I can feel my center of gravity shift with each snip-snip-snip of Tyler’s hair. I watch it fall on the floor, we don’t talk. It all feels a little cathartic in that very obtuse way, I feel dumb about feeling it. But then a particularly rowdy lock falls on the ground, and I feel that catharsis bloom and die again. I say nothing, it’s pointless anyway.
