The Moon shone a little brighter that night as it acknowledged the sleepy goddess, the moonlight shining brilliantly upon the dark forest above Logstedshire. In a humble cabin nestled in the very same forest, an equally modest mortal lived. He had gone to university for years, spending hour after hour studying philosophy and astronomy. That night when Death graced the Essempei with her heavenly presence, this observant mortal, Philza, had noticed something strange in the air. Call it a gut feeling, but something felt off. The very air felt charged and heavy.
He stumbled on the way to his telescope, carefully adjusting the scope to look at the Moon. To his delight, the Moon was pulsing, an occurrence that indicated when something ethereal and otherworldly was happening.

Looking closer now, he could see the feline wasn’t entirely feral; yes, his coat was a little unkempt and he was rather thin, but Tabito had to admit he was…pretty. He might even dare to say adorable.
And that simple thought gave him a brief two-second mental collapse…
“Well then, cat…”
“Eita,” the feline corrected, flicking his long tail mischievously.
“Right,” Tabito said with irony, flapping his wings as he prepared to take flight—after all, he’d spent far too long on the ground already. “Eita… I’d like to say it’s been a pleasure, but it hasn’t. So next time you want to play dead, do it far, far away from my alley.”
