There's this absolutely devastating way he looks at her, sometimes. All big-eyed and sweet, like he really knows, down to his bones, that he's safe with Mandy, that she cares about him and will protect him and he can be soft if he needs to, and it just absolutely kills her in the best way. Right now he gives her that look over the last bites of a candlelit dinner (thankfully not at SDN this time) and asks her, so shyly no one on the Z-Team would believe it, if she will share his next heat. meet the familyHe rode there calmly, confidant that Phillip wouldn't knock him off when he got up to refill his coffee mug a third time, heaping it liberally with sugar this round. Eloise raised an eyebrow but didn't comment, and was impressed with her son's timing when, only seconds after he sat down again, Clint came shuffling into the kitchen and headed straight for him.
Blinking owlishly the blonde stopped less than a foot away, standing just behind Phillip's shoulder, who hadn't turned, and tilting his head.
"Kitty," he mumbled, and then he was pushing his face against her son's shoulder where Boris sat, rubbing cheeks with the feline when the cat immediately reciprocated, purring like a freight train.
Phillip rolled his eyes but she could see the corner of his mouth tick, a familiar gesture she'd learned to read many years ago.He's leaning against the kitchen island beside his mom, hip cocked, broad, bare shoulders loose, a soft smile tipping at the corners of his mouth even when he glances over at Clint. He must see that he's nervous because his fingers tick automatically, comm code, at ease agent,
"He talks about you, you know," Ellie says casually, finding a large mixing bowl and rifling through a drawer. Clint feels his frown deepen and sees her flick him a small, secret sort of smile. "Long before he brought you home. I've been waiting years to meet you Clint."

On especially dark or cloudy nights, Kris cracked a glowstick and circled it around their wrist when they walked into the kitchen around 4:00 AM to make coffee after giving up on sleep for the night. Sometimes, the smell drew it out of its room; she'd come grab a cup, and they'd sip the hot, bitter liquid together in silent camaraderie. Usually, Kris drank the small pot alone.
