Not before noticing that Mr. Grace had slipped his glasses back to their proper position on the ridge of his nose, which was strange because Mr. Grace's glasses were almost always hanging precariously off of a single ear or the collar of his sweater.

Summary

Summary
What started as a 10-20 chapter outline has become over 200 chapters worth of content, and no one is surprised, haha!
This series starts out with the Asset escaping HYDRA's clutches in 2012 during the Chitauri attack on New York, includes his murder revenge tour against HYDRA across the country, his eventual capture and rehabilitation by the Avengers, and many adventures in therapy and recovery beyond that. Plus, Winterhawk (that's Clint/Bucky) slow burn that lasts hundreds of chapters as they circle each other and fall in love. Observe as villains die brutally on the page and civilians and bystanders occasionally become close friends of the cast and cast members themselves.
There's some HYDRA Trash Party tropes in here that can get pretty dark, but everything should be tagged appropriately per chapter in the end notes. And since it's a revenge tour + recovery journey, most of the HYDRA Trash Party stuff is either referenced only or is firmly in the past. We're moving forward (slowly) not backward, here. ^_^

But then, it was kind of funny that Zoey herself was destined to be a famous performer when she couldn’t even speak, so. At least their third hunter had some experience with performing, though Zoey was pretty sure if they ever actually did become a group and the general public found out she used to be a stripper…well. Zoey would find it kind of funny, but she was sure most people would not.

Buck stares back at the killer, unable to fully process what is being asked of him. He sees a flash of anger dance in the stranger’s gaze. He's impatient. Unpredictable. Fear pours into Buck's chest as he realizes he might not get a second chance at this. He has to make this count. “I vow to give you complete control over the remainder of my life. My body is yours to destroy—so long as you let my sister live and return safely to her family.”

Or, After Eddie leaves for Texas, Buck goes to seek comfort from his sister and walks in on her kidnapping. In order to save Maddie's life, Buck offers up his instead. Unintentionally agreeing to something worse than death.

As you can tell, this causes problems. Especially since he was born with this, and the gods have no idea he has such a gift.
At least he's always ten steps (and ten years sometimes) ahead of his enemies.
