(This is an extra prequel to my Dimiclaude fic Ad-rift, even though Claude doesn't show up in this at all. I wrote it ages ago, and I just wanted to post this somewhere, as I put a lot of thought into it.)
During Dimitri's 5 years alone, he had a lot of time to think, grieve, and reminisce. Although he would much be rather left alone, he also wants to help four students from Gareg Mach. They turn up out of nowhere with a monster practically nipping at their ankles.
Still, his memories of the past keep interrupting the present. It's hard for him to really even feel like the same "Dimitri", but he remembers that name very clearly. Even as he keeps associating it with a different time.
