Chapter Text
Karai doesn't remember a lot of her childhood.
She remembers some things. Some good. Some bad.
Her earliest memory is seeing blood on the wall. Blood? Red stuff? Ketchup? Why was there blood? Was someone hurt? Was she hurt?
She doesn't remember.
Why can't she remember?
She doesn't remember her biological parents much. She didn't know that her mother was ill and that her father couldn't take care of her. She didn't know they unintentionally neglected her.
Sure, throughout her life she'll visit with her biological father once in a while, but she feels....disconnected from him. She doesn't know why. She'll never know why.
She wouldn't find out why until age 18.
She never sees her biological mother again. She doesn't know how sick she is. She doesn't know why her parents had to give ber away. She doesn't know.
She is 5 and small and thin when a police car pulls up one day. Day? Night? A man inna funny uniform picks her up and the screams. She screams and cries as her parents beg and cry.
What's happening?
Why is this happening?
All she knows is that police arrest bad people.
Is she being arrested?
Is she bad?
Did she do something wrong?
Did she mess up somehow?
Why do her parents not want her anymore?
Where is this man taking her?
Red and and blue lights flash as the tiny child huddles in the passenger seat. The cop next to her doesn't speak. She shuts her eyes.
Memories get fuzzy.
She finds herself in a foster home for 6 weeks. A couple with their four kids. She doesn't know what a foster home is. She doesn't know where her parents are. Why is she her?
She wasn't happy there. Her only memory of the place is the father screaming at her as he kicks the little black dog the family has.
The dog whimpers.
Karai screams and sobs. "You hurt her!"
She doesn't remember what happened next.
Suddenly, she was in the care of her uncle, Oruko Saki.
He adopted her.
For a long time after that, she tenses up when she sees a police car or a cop. That's her earliest memory. The yelling. The crying. The blood. The car.
She never will know fully what happened. No one will tell her. She will never know.
Notes:
Hey guys! So uh, Jax here! I just wanna point out that this fic is a vent fic, everything Karai goes through in this I have experienced. Just so you know-
These are my memories but a lot of them are either really clear or really hazy with gaps, so I'll do my very best to make this clear but true to what really happened.
