Chapter 1: Monday June 29th Mirror

Chapter Text

Skyfire scowled as he made his way back to his home. It had been a long day, and the last thing he wanted to deal with was any mechs or their prejudice. All he wanted to do was work in the labs, and then come home.

It would be better if Starscream was there, working alongside him and making everything better. They could come home, and have a nice life. Though reality was nothing like a dream. The Autobots were too cruel for the seeker. His light would be snuffed out eventually, either by the functionalists putting him down or by an Autobot execution squad. The seeker would speak out against Optimus’s controlling reign. The light that brought hope to others was what would be the downfall of the seeker. Eventually, Skyfire would have been alone again just as he was now. Miserable and all alone.

As Skyfire made the way up the steps of his home, an odd package was leaning against the doorframe. It was tall and thin. Most likely not from one of the functionalists trying to push him out of the lab but it could still be something that they made. At this point, the shuttle expected the daily attacks to make him fit into a box he didn’t want to be in.

The note attached had Jazz’s handwriting, though it was swirlier than usual. It looked like the saboteur was happy and the shuttle didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing. Jazz was not one of the functionalists, but he wasn’t one to be trusted either. Whatever this gift was, it had some strings attached.

With an exhausted sigh, Skyfire picked it up and moved the package into his house. He still had to work in the labs tomorrow, to help create things that would track down the remaining Decepticons. Either to capture them or snuff out their embers. The shuttle tried not to think about it, think about Starscream’s fate as the seeker ran away from Prime’s regime.

Setting the package against a wall, Skyfire picked up the note and went to grab a cube. After he refueled, the shuttle would see what the saboteur wanted. Who knew, maybe Jazz had something worthwhile. Maybe there would be something exciting, or it could be something that would get all of them killed before the court. Skyfire was never sure what the saboteur was thinking.

Picking up the note, Skyfire read it over. Have the life you always wanted with that seeker. Just remember who helped you out.

Skyfire rolled his optics, there’s no way that this package could ever help with that. Though, if there was a chance for Starscream to be back in his life he would take it. Unwrapping the package, it revealed to be nothing more than a mirror. Skyfire looked at it in disbelief. How could a simple mirror help him get Starscream back? Was Jazz suggesting that Skyfire work on his looks?

“How is a mirror going to help me get Starscream back?” Skyfire asked himself aloud. Just as he said it, the mirror started to glow and the reflection started to change. What was in front of him was a tri-colored seeker working in a dark lab. Was this Starscream, at least some version of him?

Touching the glass, Skyfire watched as his servo went through it. The mirror had to be some sort of portal, crossing through time and space.

“Who’s there?” The seeker said, spinning around and aiming a null ray at Skyfire. “Skywarp this isn’t funny.” The shuttle scowled, if he wanted a reunion with Starscream then he would have to plan it out. Make sure that the Starscream he grabbed would be content staying at home, but still work on experiments with him. He needed a Starscream that would never abandon him for Megatron.

Research needed to be done before Skyfire brought the seeker through. The shuttle would make sure everything was perfect, so that Starscream never wanted to leave him ever again.

Starscream sighed as he sat alone in the abandoned wreckage of the Harbinger. The Autobots were after him, Megatron was after him, and Mech was after him. Energon levels were low, and he would have to leave to get more before he starved to death. What a mess this whole thing was.

“Starscream,” A voice called out, causing the seeker to jump out of his plating. It sounded familiar, but different at the same time. His wings were fluttering out of fear, showing his true emotions.

“Who’s there? Show yourself!” Starscream yelled, trying to still his wings. Transforming his servo into a blaster, the seeker tried to aim where the voice was coming from. He had very few friends at the moment, and he doubted that this new mech was going to be one of them. It was better to be safe than sorry.

“Don’t worry old friend, its only me,” the voice said as it stepped out of the shadows. Starscream had to reset his optics for a moment. The mech looked like Skyfire, but it couldn’t be possible. Skyfire went offline long ago. The functionalists made sure he would never be found, and the seeker was the one to take all the blame.

“Who are you?” Starscream said.

“Starscream, it's me,” the Skyfire lookalike said, “I’ve come to rescue you.”

“Not possible,” Starscream said, “you're dead!”

“No, I’m not,” Skyfire said as he took a step closer to the seeker. Starscream took a step back. This had to be some trick, a ploy even. Soundwave must have some hologram technology or the Autobots were trying to flush him out with some relic. Those were the only reasonable explanations for this situation. There was no way Skyfire would still be alive after all this time. Not after the ice storm or the war.

“It’s time to go,” the strange shuttle said, “It’s time for us to go to a better place.”

“I’m not dead,” Starscream hissed out.

“And neither am I,” Skyfire said as the seeker’s wings hit the wall. Starscream was boxed in and the shuttle was closing the distance even more. “Starscream, it's time to go.”

“No!” Starscream yelled, as the shuttle grabbed something from his subspace. The seeker tried to move as a flash of light filled his vision. His frame went rigid and the seeker couldn’t move.

“I wish it didn’t have to come to this,” the strange shuttle said, “but you’ll understand that this is all for your own good.”
