Excellent Clint Barton centric fiction
A collection of excellent fics which are Clint Barton centric (counting centric as: either the main character, or one of two or three main characters who share equal screen time). In these fics, the writing excellently displays Clint's character development, though the character/setting may be AU. Amazing feats optional (but realistically, frequent - this is Hawkeye..). Any or no pairing, any rating.
Submissions/suggestions welcome.

Summary
They’re the broken ones. That’s what Clint figures the rest think about him and Barnes. Clint with his eardrums trashed, Barnes with a regiment’s worth of trauma and a psychotic cybernetic arm, put in the same room and told to make nice while the others get to go on missions and do important things and save the world.
Well they're not broken. So of course they got bored and tired of being sidelined and decided to entertain themselves. And of course they ended up wanted, running through the streets of Paris with bananas down their pants and gendarmes in pursuit. Of course they did.

The problem with Barton, Phil knows, is that he's a cocky, arrogant, good-at-everything bastard who's too pretty by half.
Also, the first time they met Barton had to swoop in and rescue him from a mess of his own devising.
Phil really hates that.

This one's going out to everyone who ever complained that they could only kudo a fic once.
The blockbuster movie version of What Happened in Budapest.
--
“Got to be two or three blocks on fire.”They watched as another building caught, a little closer to them. Sirens were coming from everywhere. “Phil knows we're in Budapest, right?” Natasha asked.
“Yeah. Told him we were taking a long weekend.” Phil liked to know where the hell they were. Since he had to answer to governments for them and they got up to major shit, Clint thought it sounded kind of reasonable. Nat didn't.
“We won't have to call, then.” She gestured. “He knows we're in Budapest, and three blocks go up in flames? After what they'll call a terrorist attack at the Opera? He'll be here by morning to rescue us, so he doesn't have to fill out the paperwork. All we really have to do is stay alive until he gets here and finds us.”

Summary
Coming down after a mission is always rough — the longer the mission, the rougher.
If Clint thinks about it like a drug trip, that's because it is. You can't inhabit an altered state of consciousness for that long without having a little difficulty readjusting to the view at ground level. And after a mission like this one, it's going to be even worse.
---
Phil could easily find out where Agent Barton disappears to, what he does in those days after long missions. He choses not to. He choses to allow Barton his privacy in this, since the man gets so little of it elsewhere.
Every time Clint pulls another disappearing act, Phil hopes to God that he's making the right choice.

Summary
“Why?” Coulson turned his hand under Clint’s – he hadn’t moved it, the two of them still connected – and curled his fingers around Clint’s wrist. There it was, the opportunity to come clean. He closed his eyes for two seconds, then opened them again, shifting to widen his legs and draw Coulson’s knee between his as he spoke.
“Because there’s no good way to tell your bad ass majorly dominant boss that you want to tie him up and whip him until he screams your name.” That was jumping in with both feet, wasn’t it?
“Fuck,” Coulson sat back in his chair and groaned like the breath had been knocked out of him. “So, you’re not a sub then?”
“Confused for a while, but Reisa got me straightened out eventually.” He tightened his hold on Coulson’s wrist, fingers pressing into the skin. “You’re not a dom?”
“All work makes Phil a dull man,” he replied.
