Bond has always felt an overwhelming need to protect the ones he has allowed to matter, a care he extends to his daemon. Of course, Bailey feels quite the same, and their reckless streak leads them to pushing the limits of the human-daemon bond in an attempt to preserve it.
(A Skyfall/His Dark Materials fusion in that this fic takes place after the events of Skyfall, with the sole addition that everyone has a daemon. All Craig!Bond canon applies).
