In the land of Ingary, where such things as seven-league boots and cloaks of invisibility really exist, it is quite a misfortune to be born the eldest of three. Everyone knows you are the one who will fail first, and worst, if the three of you set out to seek your fortunes.
Howl, of course, had been born the younger of two. That held no real significance, other than that he always felt like he had a shadow looming over him.

Summary
In a blink, Tim realizes he is in fact- not where he is supposed to be.
It could be the fact that he was previously in his bedroom and yet, is now in a warehouse. Assumably one on the east docks, he can tell by the smell. It could be the fact that he is wearing clothes that aren’t quite- but very close to -pooling around him like someone dressed him up in clothing meant for someone half a foot taller. Or that he shrunk.
Undoubtedly, however, the biggest clue was the man in front of him holding a gun pointed straight at him. A gun that doesn’t look all magical but definitely isn’t just technology, along with its wielder giving him the most shocked face he has ever seen.
Tim, who prides himself on being pretty fast on the uptake, absorbs all of this information in a few seconds and with all the sudden adrenaline within him decides to focus in on one thought: He is not supposed to be here.
With all the experiences a twelve year old can have after following (read: stalking) dangerous vigilantes on rooftops with no outside help or training, he decides to fall back on what he knows and what he’s comfortable with: running the fuck away.

J'onn J’onzz’s initial imprisonment by the government lands him a friend in his escape, but his friend sticks to shadows, too afraid to show himself. All Flash knows is the Watchtower is definitely haunted, and he will never understand the Martian culture of leaving food in corners, along walls, or other seemingly random places. He does know J'onn gets mad when he eats it, though.
