18 years after the events of Alien (1979) a star-ship vessel the niridesis-1 is towing a secondary ship called the odyssey to an asteroid space station, but their trip is interrupted when the ship computer "cousin" picks up a distress beacon from a shuttle left floating in space. Later the crew also picked up a cocooned alien creature which was also left floating in space.
