The story of this Zenik man is a tragedy. Though, he had the ending he wished for, getting there was full of pain and suffering. In the beginning he is full of hope and life as he fights for a better tomorrow, but that light dims inside of him. Can he regain it? That is the question I asked for a long time as I wrote this. His story is sad, angry, hopeful, and terrifying. I would not wish what happened to him to my worst enemy. Though his life was not all bad, he still had the family he gained along the way. The question I must ask you, reader, is if you can stomach the thousands of years of his suffering.

One day, Sadik invites his neighboring friends: Heracles, Gupta, Iakovos, and Tarkan to a party to celebrate his birthday. Although the group forgot about his Independence Day, slightly upsetting Sadik, he carries on by celebrating his special day with his friends. Even through a few arguments and grudges, they all have a wonderful time together— maybe except for Gupta. He isn’t upset about the party, Sadik, or anyone else. He’s upset about himself. As the event brings him closer to his friend, Iakovos, Gupta feels a sense of self-loathing from his sudden attraction to him. Bitter feelings of denial and disappointment in himself for liking the same gender swallow him whole; making him unable to enjoy his time. Gupta tries his best to hide this personal disgust, but it doesn’t seem to fully hide away his feelings. The others, especially Iakovos, notice his mood. However, Gupta did not suspect that Iakovos might’ve fallen in love for him too. Iakovos shares this masculine allure, keeping it a secret until his feelings can’t bear to be shunned away anymore.
