But Hollander’s brow furrowed, not in anger but in confusion. “Ah, um, sorry,” Hollander said. “Merci. My English is bad. Worse… than you. Maybe slower?” And he leaned in, like that would help him understand.
Ilya’s eyebrows rose, and his smile widened.
Or, Ilya Rozanov grew up in Russia. Shane Hollander was raised in France. When they first meet, neither of them can speak English very well. Somehow, it’s easier to understand each other when words aren’t getting in the way.

I'm rewriting Winx seasons 1-4 (and the first movie) and "fixing" parts of the story that I felt lacked logic or continuity. I'm going to try to follow the main story beats and progression as closely as I can, but other than that, I'll take liberties I feel make more sense! Musa/Aisha will be a slow burn. Major changes will be ironing out Bloom's backstory, changing Musa's relationships, fleshing out their magic, and humanizing and explaining witches better.-

Alice can clearly hear him on the other end (as it should've been in canon), and foils all of his well laid plans, as well as Edward's plan to keep Bella human. But there's a lot more lurking under the surface, and Alice starts to realize they never knew Bella at all.
this is a rewrite of my fic The Essence of You. It might end up fairly different, as I'm trying to dive deeper into their assorted issues.
