Summary
A glimpse into Astarion’s life as Vampire Ascendant in the years that follow the Absolute and the loss of his mad love.
After a century, he's plagued by grief and loss.
After two, he's bored.
After three centuries, the Dread Lord Bhaal is suddenly dead, and there's word that a relic has been formed of his blood. One rumoured to be powerful enough to cure any ailment, even death itself.
That is how Astarion finds himself back in a tent, scrubbing mud off of his expensive boots. Recruited into yet another band of merry weirdos whose names he has yet to commit to memory. It will all be worth it, he tries to convince himself, when he can finally cure the one thing his ascension couldn't: the coldness of his undead flesh.
At least there is one familiar face among them: dear old Withers. The ancient scribe who had recruited him for the quest of 'The Blood of Bhaal.' Except Withers cannot stay long, and has nominated an oddly twitchy apprentice in his stead.

Techno leads a village, the Antarctic Empire, a safe haven for all hybrids who have faced harm or risk facing harm at the hands of humans. Techno has learned of a hybrid being held by the human King as a sort of "show-bird", and vows to save them from the King's clutches.

Techno puts his head into his hands, “Get to the point.”
“Get to the point.” Tommy snarks back in a mocking tone, “I AM. So I was eating all those corn dogs and I overheard some people talking about something the King had in the castle, a me-an-jerry? Meanjerry? Meand-”
“A menagerie?” Techno offers.
“Yeah! That! So apparently the King already has critters like polar bears and camels and other animals that don’t live around here, but these folks were saying that he’s got something special and new in there. They were talking about this hybrid he had just caged up and put on display in the... menagerie.” Tommy looks to Techno for approval on his pronunciation. Techno nods at him. “Like. An avian. A person. I wasn’t able to go snooping around but if that’s true, we gotta go save them.”
