I need you close.” You’d knelt without thinking, heart hammering, while Roman choked on his water and and Karl stared like you’d grown a second head.
“Kendall.” Karl had said tightly. “This is…highly unconventional.”
Kendall had just shrugged. “He’s efficient. I like him there.”
You stayed on your knees for the rest of the meeting, cheeks burning, utterly mortified and shamefully thrilled. No one said anything directly to HR.
