Luo Binghe draws away slightly. Yuan-ge, he signs, then falters. Laboriously, in their cobbled-together language, he conveys, Yuan-ge want Binghe go? Binghe go long ocean not come back, Yuan-ge… happy?
"No!" Luo Binghe jumps a little, and Shen Yuan takes a deep breath and tries to rein in his tone. "I don't want you to go. I just want to understand."
Luo Binghe creeps closer again. Yuan-ge here, he signs.
Luo Binghe is a not-so-little octopus mermaid, and Shen Yuan is the marine biology graduate student attempting to study him. Will they ever manage to get on the same wavelength?

Genos cursed his sinful, greedy soul. Sensei trusted him, and he had worked hard to gain that trust. Now he would throw all that away for a moment of weakness? No. He was stronger than this.
Beside him, Sensei's breath was coming in gasps, heart rate elevated, unconscious limbs moving restlessly. Genos had woken and moved to check on him, concerned, when Sensei had moaned and he'd had the heart-stopping realization that it wasn't a nightmare he was witnessing.
