Summary
Of all the places you could spend your summer vacation, the Summer Scouts is pretty far down there. You have to deal with the same stupid jesus songs day-in and day-out, and when you aren't listening to those or sleeping, you're working on the stupidest things imaginable.
Try-hard Taylor Hebert, caustic Amy Dallon, and sly Lisa Wilbourn can't wait until Summer is over. Before they can get there, though, they have one last task: spend a night in a dinky little cabin in the depths of the woods and fight the devil. It couldn't be too hard, right?

Summary
Perhaps observing him sitting on the deck, clutching at his skull, is enough to reassure the little boy that Brook is no threat. He cautiously clambers aboard, sword clutched in one hand, and leans forward to give Brook’s nearest foot a poke with the tip of his blade. The sheer absurdity of it should be enough to make anyone laugh, but the skeleton manages to restrain himself. “You- are you dead?”
“In a sense, yes! But also technically, no! Yohohoho!” Well, at least he restrained himself momentarily. With no hat to doff, Brook settles for sweeping his arms about and bowing from his seated position. “Humming Brook, last remaining member of the Rumbar Pirates, at your service!”
The boy’s eyes grow very wide. He stares at Brook for a long moment, before glancing about the rather tattered ship, and seems to come to something of a decision. “If you’re a pirate, I should arrest you.” Ah. That does not sound promising. “But... If I rescue you instead, that means you owe me a debt?”
Judging by his immediate grimace, the child didn’t mean for that to come out as a question.

Zeff knows his boy.
Always knew there was more to his backstory than just the Orbit, too, even if Sanji clammed up tighter than any shellfish in the sea rather than drop a single hint.
Glaring up into a face he knows, bearing an utterly indifferent expression, being worn by some musclehead with green slicked-back hair and a fancy shiny outfit, Zeff is pretty sure he’s about to get hit with a whole lot more than any mere hint.

Summary
The trip passes in a haze of pain and delirium.
At times, Sora is aware of her little girl sitting close by, playing with her hair, something Reiju hasn’t done since Judge’s modifications began in earnest the year before. Every so often, there are arms holding her down as she thrashes, gasping, crying out, begging for faceless doctors to leave her children alone. Once, and only once, does Sora drift into vague awareness of her hand being held in cold, cold fingers, a voice whispering “I’ll save them. I swear. I’m going to save all of you.”
