Summary
The scent was unmistakable already from the front door. Piers stopped dead in his tracks, hand already raised to knock on the door, nostrils flaring as his subconscious mind registered the scent before his brain caught up. Immediately it all made sense. Leon’s choked voice on the phone, the way he had refused to actually explain anything, how he’d only gotten out that it’s urgent and he needs help. The address had followed in a text message, and Piers hadn’t even hesitated.
Now that he stood here, he wasn’t sure if he would’ve hesitated even if he’d known the reality of the situation. Leon needed help, that was about all that mattered.
The scent of heat and slick and Leon hit Piers so hard he almost keeled over as he reached the bedroom. He gripped the doorframe tight, his claws out and digging into the wood, as he fought for control. Not only the scent, but also the sight.

Summary
As Piers finally got to the fourth floor he headed down the hallway, already digging through his pocket for the keys. At first he only glanced up, but then had to do a double take as he realized something was off.
Someone was sitting on the floor next to his door. Frowning in confusion, Piers approached, cautious now. He hadn’t exactly gotten visitors here, and it took his tired brain a moment to catch on. Then something about the blond hair and the curve of that nose clicked in Piers’ brain and he stopped in his tracks a good few feet from his door. “Leon!?” he got out disbelievingly.
At that Leon looked up, letting his head fall back until it hit the wall and he could look at Piers through stray strands of hair on his face. A slow smile spread on his face, almost apologetic, and as he spoke his words were carefully slow and measured in a way that immediately gave away that he was either drunk or on drugs. “I didn’t know where else to go.”

His eyes flick up to Luis’s face, drop to his lips, and then flash back up to his eyes in the matter of a second. There’s something dark in them. Something wanting. Unsure, but wanting.“You know, there are other ways to let off a little steam besides shooting,” Luis says matter of factly, leaning forward, testing the waters. The knife falls to the floor, forgotten.

The first thing Leon registered was the cold stone floor under himself. So, he wasn’t home in his own bed, then, he thought wryly as he struggled to get up. It was a bad move, as the second he moved he also realized that he hurt all over. His head was splitting, his shoulder aching, and he felt like he’d taken a good beating.
…which was because he had taken a good beating, he realized belatedly. And now he woke up with his head pounding, in what looked like a basement of some sort, aching and pissed off and apparently chained to the wall.
“Fucking ow…”
The familiar voice from a few paces away made Leon’s eyes fly wide and he scrambled to turn around. “Piers?”
Instantly Piers looked up, eyes equally wide. “Leon!?” He was frowning as he met Leon’s gaze, still struggling to free his wrists from the cuffs around them. “What the fuck is going on here?” he asked, obviously frustrated.

Leon had barely settled down on the couch with the folder when Chris padded back into the living room. He was only in his underwear and a soft green shirt, hair mussed, and if Leon got stuck staring for a second then, well, no one minded. Somehow he managed to pull himself back to reality, though. “Chris? Why aren’t you asleep?”
“I couldn’t sleep,” Chris frowned, sounding miserable. “I’m not used to… The bed is really big? And we’re usually… You know?”
Leon couldn’t hold back the grin as he tilted his head. “You saying you want me to come snuggle you to sleep?”

That was when it clicked. LSK. Leon Scott Kennedy. Chris’ heart was suddenly in his throat, his palms clammy, and he couldn’t even breathe. He should’ve known from the very initials, he should’ve picked that up faster, he… He still had no idea what was going on but this was Leon, this was after the Raccoon City disaster, and someone had gone through the trouble of bringing it to Chris’ attention.
On the video, a voice called out. “Officer Kennedy, was it?” The tone was conversational, but there was something off, not only because of the odd setup. Leon looked up, his mouth pinched to a hard line, obviously exhausted beyond measure and pissed off on top of that.
Horrified, Chris watched until the tape ended. Then he rewound it and watched it again.

Outside the lickers were making their weird screeching noise, and it sent a cold shiver down Piers’ spine. This wasn’t a long term solution. Sure they were safe right now but it was only a matter of time before the lickers – or something bigger and nastier – would manage to break through the doors and get to them.
Besides, he was worried for Chris. Especially since when he got back, Chris was leaning heavily against the wall, eyes closed and unmoving. He looked unnaturally pale and still, and Piers practically panicked. “Chris!?” he asked shrilly, rushing to kneel beside him, frantically searching for signs of life. “Chris, c’mon, please, open your eyes,” he whispered, unable to even get his voice to work any steadier.

Piers came to a halt next to Chris, their shoulders almost touching, and it was painfully obvious that Chris didn’t even notice him there. Piers cleared his throat, and Chris practically jumped half a foot in the air as he startled. “What the hell, Piers!?” he hissed, low enough not to alert any of the others a few paces away.
“Enjoying the view?” Piers asked with a grin, not even trying to pretend like he wasn’t laughing at Chris.
Chris only huffed. “Shut up. As if you wouldn’t have.”
That, now, was true if anything. If Piers hadn’t been stuck inside in that godawful bore of a meeting he definitely would’ve used his time wisely and stared at Leon as much as anyone else.

Leon was sitting on the floor, practically hugging the toilet bowl. Either he hadn’t thrown up yet or he’d flushed it in between, there was no telling, but he seemed exhausted. He was unnaturally pale, his hair sticking onto his sweaty forehead, but he still attempted a grin. “Don’t worry about it,” he waved aside. “Go back to sleep. I’ll be right there.”

“That’s it, Leon, keep breathing,” Chris said as he gently placed his hand onto Leon’s shoulder, his thumb brushing over the ugly scar left behind by the exit wound from the gunshot twenty years prior.
Obediently Leon took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling with it, before visibly relaxing. He was lying on his back on the mattress, so close to the end that his head was hanging off the edge, exposing the column of his throat. Piers kind of wanted follow the invitation and sink his teeth right there, work another mark onto Leon’s skin next to the ones already covering most of the available space.

Well this sucked, Leon thought as he carefully tried to put weight on his foot, only to confirm what he’d already suspected. His ankle probably wasn’t broken, but it was sprained badly enough that he couldn’t really put any weight on it. So that ruled out making a run for it, really. He could maybe make some kind of a crutch from whatever was still left on the farm but that would require him to actually be able to move enough to gather supplies.
This whole place reminded him way too much of Spain. It was an old rundown farm, pitchforks and sickles and whatever else carelessly abandoned all over, bear traps left for unsuspecting strangers to step right into. And Leon didn't know how he'd get out of there in one piece.

“I think I need to…” Chris started, trying to catch a clear thought. He was swaying on his feet, trying to get a hold of the doorframe to keep himself properly upright, and when he tried to go on he couldn’t even make it that far. “I think I…” He swallowed hard, squeezing his eyes shut again. “Need to lie down.”

It’s not that he makes a habit of using his office at the HQ for other than its actual intended purposes. Yet when Piers and Leon surprised him after a bone-numbingly boring meeting that dragged way into the night, topped by a flight home that felt like hours even though it was barely fifty minutes, he knows there’s no way he could’ve said no.

Piers didn’t even wait for Chris’ acknowledgement, knowing that he’d be right there, before dropping off the edge of the roof and right into the waiting arms. Easily Chris set him onto his feet, but left one arm around him, looking at him with question written all over his face.
“What’s the hurry,“ Chris asked with a grin, “couldn’t stand to be away from me?“
Normally Piers would’ve had at least ten possible answers to that, but now all he got out was “We gotta run!” before he was already tugging on Chris’ sleeve and pulling him along. “It’s Leon!”
“Leon!?” Chris sounded like he almost choked on the name but in a split second he had gotten with the program, had picked up the pace and sped up to a brisk jog right next to Piers.

It took Leon approximately four minutes to fall asleep, and that was a testament to how exhausted he’d been. And how safe he felt between the two others right now. Piers pressed his face into Leon’s hair for a second, as if he was trying to make sure Leon was still there and still okay, but then he looked over Leon and straight at Chris. “You don’t need to pretend you don’t care about him.”
Chris didn’t like how knowing the statement was. No one was supposed to know. He had tried so hard to contain his heart eyes, had tried to accept the fact that he’d fucked up his chances. He’d had over a decade to act but he hadn’t, so served him right. “Of course I care,” he muttered defiantly, “he’s my friend.”
“That’s not what I meant.” Piers gave him a look, one that was surprisingly gentle and that was throwing Chris off a loop. Especially when Piers went on, in the same soft tone. “You have feelings for him, right?”
