Sierra Six had ruthlessly culled all of Court from himself, carefully paring away slices of the boy between missions and flinging them behind him to the depths of time, until all that was left was Fitzroy's asset. Could only be the weapon the CIA had invested so much in. But as Claire threw her arms around him in the safe house where Suzanne had stashed her, Six realised that he remembered exactly when he had last been held without the intent to harm.

Court Gentry is not used to being in control of his own life, much less someone else's. He doesn't suppose a change in situation is going to lessen the universe's interest in tossing him around like a ragdoll.

Grace's webbed hands press against the glass, his curious chitters surprising the young man standing next to the viewport he was observing from. He’s newer on the team, Grace jogs his memory for his name again.
The young man holds his hand to his chest, breathing a sigh of relief, “Oh hey, Grace. Come to see your new neighbor?”
He nods, chirping his burning question, “Who is it?”
“Dunno,” Chris, right, that’s his name– “It’s another mer.”
(Or, Rocky and Adrian are helped by a merman named Grace, and in turn they save him. Now happily living in the Erid Marine Rehabilitation & Research Center, Grace is surprised when another injured merman named Simon is brought to recover in a neighboring tank. Perhaps, these two lost souls may finally have a home, together.)

Summary
Just after Grace and Rocky are reunited at Tau Ceti, something odd pops up on the proximity alert. Seized by curiosity and fueled by a need for purpose, Grace reaches out for this artifact, only measuring about a foot. Despite it's small size, they couldn't have guessed the scale of the discovery.
Neither could Simon, trying to sort out reality and hallucination, as he escapes the horrors lurking in AT-5. He comes face to face with a larger than life figure, coming to terms with his past and his future.

Simon has never been good with kids. When a child appears out of thin air in his submarine and the COI still refuses to pull him up, all Simon can do is protect her from the horrors of the ocean. Even if he knows there's not much hope for either of them to live.
Ryland Grace is living his best life on Erid. He has a wonderful best friend, scientific colleagues who respect him, and students who adore him. Unless he decides to make the journey back to Earth, however, he doesn't expect to see another human any time soon. He certainly wasn't expecting to stumble upon a traumatized father and daughter welded into a blood-filled submarine.

Summary
Really, the reason he doesn’t think about Courtland is that he’s a coward. His absence, and then death, have impacted every decision he’s ever made, and everything he’s turned out to be. He’s gone most of his life missing an essential part of himself and pretending like it was fine. But it wasn’t fine. It was an amputation that never healed. He can’t think about it because the enormity of it would bring him to his knees. He has to keep moving.
So he doesn’t think about Court for his own sanity, and here is proof, because moments after allowing himself to grieve him for the first time in years, his dead brother is sitting at his kitchen table in the dark, watching him through cautious eyes, spirit-summoned like a ghoul.
