“Can you feel my love buzz, Black?” Remus shouted, grinning to himself while still playing the same rhythm that goes on for most of the song.
“No, I can’t, actually. You might have to play a little louder,” Sirius deadpanned.
Remus rolled his eyes: a win in Sirius’s book.
“Alright, alright. No arguing today, you two,” James butted in, breaking Remus’s eyes away from Sirius.

It’s 1989. James becomes friends with Remus, a band kid in his film studies class, Sirius doesn't know whether to be jealous of or charmed by him. They argue over the little things, bond over late 1980s music, and film their own movie as their friend groups merge, all the while letting their feelings get the better of them.

Remus Lupin fell in love with Sirius Black at eleven years old, in the quiet way boys do when they learn early how to keep secrets. He carried it with him through the years, while Sirius left a trail of crushes and girlfriends that Remus pretended not to mind. Jealousy became a familiar ache, something he learned to live with. Another secret he had to keep.
By eighteen, the weight of it all was almost too much. And then Sirius gave him a birthday present he would never forget... and Remus could not pretend any longer.
