Summary
Five years is a long time for a human. An eighth of Gale Dekarios’ entire existence, yet still not long enough to forget that which he desperately wishes he could. The weight of time serves only to chain him to that moment, restored and unmade simultaneously.
Five years is the blink of an eye for an elf, and hardly even that for a vampiric one. Still, Astarion Ancunin wants nothing more than to go back and play that moment in time on repeat, until he's memorized every detail. Maybe if he could, he'd finally be able to put two centuries of torment to rest.
They must decide what they're willing to do to escape their respective prisons and come to terms with what they've already done. When two sides of the same coin are melted through and forced to intermingle, they will be forced to open their eyes. Is it worth it?

The woman tilted her head. "Do you know what we just did to you?"
Astarion's eyes darted between them, perplexed by the question. What they did to him…?
That's when he noticed the Selûnite pendant around her neck. She was a cleric… had she healed him? He tried to piece together a scenario that made any sort of sense, but the details barely added up. Had these people found him? If so, why did they drag him across the city? How did they do such a thing? Why wasn't he in Harborside getting treatment? He wasn't sure exactly how severe his injuries had been, but he knew for a fact that a simple healing potion would not have done a thing to mend him back together.
"Are you… healers?" he asked.
The bearded man's mouth dropped open. "Healers—? What? No," he began to reach for him, but thought better of it and awkwardly closed his fist instead. "Astarion, it's me. Gale."
Astarion didn't recognize his name or his face in the slightest, but the way he was looking at him gave him pause.
"I… I don't…" Astarion shook his head slightly, racking his brain. "I'm sorry… Have we met before?"

- Or -The Netherese Orb absorbs life energy and now Gale kills everything he touches. After a year of fruitless research in his tower, he goes to Baldur’s gate looking for answers. He takes a job as a cook in a seedy tavern so he can use the animals on the menu to feed the orb.
Astarion is out on the prowl and his latest hunting ground shows promise. It’s a shame the handsome guy in the kitchen is so shy. He would be excellent prey.
**This fic updates around 1 to 2x a week. Chapters are on the shorter side (1500 to 3k), but you get them quick!**
