“I ask that even though I cannot make a ritual altar for you, I pray you hear me out regardless. I have nowhere else to turn, and with no allies I can contact I will likely die or worse at the hands of MI9 within the next few days. Please…” His voice, even with the Clown Potion helping him keep the worst of his emotions locked behind his perfect mask, still cracked minutely. He coughed. “Help my allies find me..."
“Praise the Lady,” he intoned after a moment of silence, his fingers instinctively tapping out the Crimson Moon on his chest.

"Through Adversity To Return (to) Home"
In a world slightly to the left, the war against Siltvelt went slightly worse than canon. More people died on both sides, and even if the results were ultimately the same, the Three Heroes Church swore in the aftermath that someday the Shield Demon would pay. So the Church plotted and schemed, and upon the summoning of the Four Cardinal Heroes, they acted. It was found through journals of previous Heroes that curses could only be applied to a Hero if it did no direct damage, and if it could not be used to control the Hero. Thus, a holy curse was concocted to keep wounds on application fresh for as long as it was active. And after encouraging the King to do as he saw fit for a corporal punishment that ended with a least a little blood being shed, the Church sat back and watched their carefully crafted plan come to fruition...
This is a collection of moments from that offshoot, compiled together closely enough to almost resemble a story. Events will stay fairly close to canon, but it's the little things that can, at times, make all the difference. Very Naofumi-centric.

Summary
Lance Kingsmen is a simple man who has been through some hard times, but gaining custody over his nephew brought with it some of the best and worst of times and he wouldn't have it any other way.
A limited 3rd-person reflection on one of those worst times paired with one of the best: a love letter to an uncle character who certainly gets some love but I think deserves even more.

Summary
Spinning off from Chapter 33 of alphashley14's amazing fic: "One of Us"; In a "Bad Ending" what if scenario, Professor Pericles connects the dots that the angry ghost that ruined his plans was singing a song from the same group that "Ricky's" been singing the songs of for the last 2 days, which matches up timing-wise with some of the odd behaviors he's been previously brushing off. So, while he doesn't know who is currently in Ricky's body, he is fairly confident that whoever it is is associated with the Mystery Skulls in some way. Thus, Professor Pericles ramps his previous controlling behavior up to eleven and imprisons Arthur for a week before Lewis is finally able to break him out.
Chapter 1 is the imprisonment and Rescue; Chapter 2 is the fluff post rescue!

Summary
Simon died. He felt it, something ripping him open from the inside and tearing his body apart. There should have been no coming back from that end and yet, here he is.
The monster had spoken of a pinhole god, curious and wanting to understand their universe. Then it forcibly pushed him into the Light, where something much bigger than him, to what Simon is little more than a speck of dust, had looked straight at Simon. Had seen him, known him, said his name.
Maybe seeing Simon sacrificing himself for the good of humanity, had earned him one last chance at life. Not enough to balance the scales of the afterlife but enough to be saved for now. Or maybe this god is nothing like the one Simon knows of, could not give less of a shit what Simon is and what he’s done, and is just curious to see what a dead man would do if left alive.
Either way, Simon lives.
Fuck.

Simon is, apparently, safe here now– wherever HERE is.

Agony, rippling under flesh as it rends from bone. Bubbles floating through stale air, a memory. Pockets of flesh bear the same pattern, puss-filled blisters shimmering in sweat. Pain hits a threshold, from searing to unfathomable, where it almost stops as bone melts and marrow leaks out in a sticky mess that’s lost to the blood sea.

Summary
They’re 8 months out from Erid when it happens. The Hail Mary doesn't exactly have any pre-programmed alerts for announcing the approach of what Rocky would later find out is a wormhole, but to her credit, the ship does try her best.
"Approaching anomaly detected."
Suddenly Rocky finds himself in a strange new space. It's much smaller than the Hail Mary, with strange metal walls and no life support. But to his surprise and delight, there's another human here! Only, they don't seem to be in space anymore. And the new human keeps treating Rocky like he's not real, which, rude. And the human seems so sad and scared, it reminds Rocky so much of when Grace admitted that their mission was a one-way trip. In fact, this new human reminds Rocky of Grace in a lot of ways.
Wait, did the human say something about radiation?!
That settles it. Rocky's getting this human out of here and back to Grace. There's no way he's letting anyone else die of radiation. Not on his watch.
He's going to save this human and they're both going to go home. Together.
