Overblot is the worst possible thing a mage can experience.
It was something that had been hammered into Cater’s head as a mage himself. Many didn’t survive. In fact, Cater had never heard of any mage that survived. Many died before they could be saved, a faceless monster sucking the magic and lifeforce out before the overblot could be reversed. If such a thing is even possible.
It was one thing to hear about an overblot. The horrific damage it did to the body, whether the mage be human, beastfolk, fae, or mer. It didn’t matter.
It was a completely different thing to see it in person. Especially when it involved a person he knew.
Or: Overblots have severe and life-altering physical consequences. Riddle is the first victim of such consequences.

They turn, the brim of their hat casting a shadow over their furrowed visor.
A skinny, light crewmate is leant against the doorway, the smirk evident in the crease of their visor. "Maroon, huh?" They croon.
"No."
The crewmate (White, they assume from process of elimination) reels back. "Huah..?"
"It's not Maroon. It's Innerveil. My codename is Innerveil. Call me… Innerveil." They tug against their hat, trying to shake off their angered nerves. "Who even are you? If you're someone important, I'm not going to know."

Summary
Azul was dead.
One last desperate attack from Idia before their retreat led to events in S.T.Y.X. that had a devastating ending, leaving those he knew to grapple with the consequences.
Riddle, no matter how much he tells himself that he’s fine, can’t escape the guilt seeping into his life when he is constantly reminded of who he failed to protect.
With the blood of someone he cares for on his hands, Idias is forced to grapple with what he’s done, slowly losing himself in a spiral of self-hatred and doubt.
But when the ghost of Azul comes back to haunt them they are forced to work together to help him before it’s too late. But maybe along the way they'll be able to put the pieces back together of those who also loved Azul, and find out how deep some bonds run.

Azul dies during Idias’s overblot at S.T.Y.X, leading his friends and family to grieve, but as fate wills, he is brought back as a ghost that only Riddle and Idia can see. Faced with a chance to bring him back to life the two have to work together to solve the mystery.
