Then, Clark’s eyes met his, and he pulled away so quickly that the sound of his retreat whipped through the air. His face, for a moment, was startlingly open, and naked grief cracked harshly through his expression like a fist shattering the surface of a frozen lake. Then, it was gone, and the slate was wiped clean as though there had been nothing but a mild smile there since the very beginning.
But Bruce knew what he’d seen.
“How long?” he asked.
Clark’s mouth twisted. “I don’t know why I thought I’d be able to keep it from you,” he said softly. “You know me too well. Was that even five minutes?”
“Clark.”
Clark’s lips turned up into a smile, fracturing his face, his eyes glittering shards of lapis lazuli. “How long for what?” he asked. “For how long we were married? Or for how long it’s been since you died?”

He stood in the doorway, paralyzed to the core of his being. The moment he’d carelessly flung open the door, thinking it was Victoria’s, his brain was flooded with the scent of soft and hot. He took in his surroundings through muscle memory alone, noting a small room with a bed and some chests, a bathroom hidden off to the side. And of course, the man inside, sitting on the edge of his motel bed, turned towards Bruce, grey Hanes shirt in his hands, no shoes, black socks.
He froze like an idiot, only able to grip the door handle for support and breath in again, deeper this time, making him dizzy with it. Something in his chest tightened, and god, this was so fucked. Because through his blood running hot and southward, stirring desire in his stomach like he’d never felt before, he could register only two things: Mate, and Alpha. And wasn’t that a colossal fuck up. There's no room left for questions. It's the same voice he heard months ago, pleading in the dark from a faceless man. Only this time, he's the one without a face. And this time, no one is eavesdropping on those sounds, because the one who used to listen is now the one making Bruce fall apart like this.
(Or, Clark thinks Batman has a very nice voice. It's been stuck in his head ever since he accidentally heard him during… sex. There's something about Bruce Wayne's voice that feels strangely familiar.)

[His now ex-girlfriend] leaves and Soap feels nothing as the door closes behind her. He sighs and finishes packing his duffel. His family will be upset, sure, but it’s no great loss. She can find someone better than him, a man who will love her the way Soap has witnessed on TV and heard people talk about but never experienced for himself. Perhaps he’s just not wired for it, some part of his brain fundamentally broken in a way that makes him good for the military but not much else.
No point in dwelling on it. His relationship may be over, but he doesn’t need a girlfriend right now—not when he’s gunning for a promotion.
And certainly not when he has Ghost.
Soap and Ghost have an arrangement where they help each other get off. It's not cheating and it's certainly not gay, until it is.
