When he opens his eyes, it's dark. Water pools around his shined shoes and he can see himself: not with petals, or a thin stem and a few little leaves, or a bundle of stamen and pistils. No, with a fitting vest, a finely-tailored shirt, and sleek slacks over long legs. With two bright eyes and swooping hair the color of daffodils, his skin glowing like a cherub's. Ears. A pointed nose. A mouth.
A mouth in which to speak.
And, oh, speak is what he will do.

There was beauty in ephemera, in fragments of time. Cherry blossoms whose blooms lasted a short, brilliant burst of spring. Sunrises and sunsets that could be missed with a glance of the head.
…wedding bouquets that understood they ought to be dried out as keepsakes, not pestering Ralsei.
“You didn’t deny what I said, you know.” Flowery watched Ralsei intently. “About serving humans.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
Flowery gracefully stood and spun around, reaching a hand out to Ralsei as he posed. “Oh, but doesn't it? We both know how this ends, Princess. But the middle can be whatever we want, you see?”

Tenna sprang to his feet, his screen lighting up in a wide grin. "Flowery!"
Excitement sparked through his circuits as he slid over to his old companion. "Gosh, I haven't seen you since…well, it's been AGES! How've you…"
Tenna's voice trailed off as his gaze fell on the large swaths of bandages wrapped around Flowery's waist. Splotches of flowers peeked through the edges, staining them yellow. "…been."
Tenna and Flowery meet again, one last time.
