“I am.” Pierre answers in the same tone he used before. Charles can’t even hear Pierre getting closer, but he can feel it, goosebumps raising in his arms as soon as he finishes speaking.
It has been so many years of this. Charles thought his body would outgrow the attunement to Pierre’s own a long time ago, but it just doesn’t.
It just doesn’t.
“Good,” he says, and it tastes acidic and terrible in his throat. “I don’t see how I fit in, then.”
