Summary

Summary

Summary
Arisu doesn’t feel the bullet lodge into his brain, doesn’t close his eyes; he just dies. His eyes stay wide open, but the scene shifts, an instantaneous change that his mind can’t grasp. He’s in the bathroom, staring at Karube. He blinks. Looks down. Chota is clutching at Arisu’s sleeve, eyes wide with panic. He blinks again, but they’re still there. Karube lunges across the distance, wrapping his arms around both of their necks, burying his face in Arisu’s shoulder, chanting, “you’re okay, you’re okay, we’re okay, you’re okay,” a litany of words murmured against the cotton of his shirt.
Or: a return to the real world.
