Summary
One different choice, just one, puts Harry Potter on an entirely new path in life. A path where he gets the help he needs and deserves with adults that actually do their jobs and with a Magical Guardian that is willing and able to truly keep him safe in all his years at Hogwarts and beyond.
Meet a Harry Potter that might be many shades darker than in the canon books, but who also is so much happier and safer. There will be dark times, distress and angst, but in the end, happiness will prevail. This is a feel good, or at least feel content, story and the reader should never doubt that Harry and his friends will come out on top, no matter what difficulties they might face. After all, they have a lot of competent and highly protective adults on their side.
This is a Work in Progress, and the author makes no guarantees for when, or even if, it will ever be finished. Read at your own risk.
The work is based on the characters, world and situations from J.K. Rowlings works and world. No money is being made.

Ch 31 - 7/4/26

After Hagrid dropped Harry off at the station, he turns around, goes back to Diagon, finds two snakes, one of them, Shesha, becomes his Magical Guardian, Shesha gets him to look for a healer which brings him to Fenrir's attention. Long story short, Fenrir becomes the Potter Regent, takes him into his Knockturn Pack and ends up sending all the Pack school age kids to Hogwarts that can attend so Harry has kids he knows (and that know some of his issues like his horrific nightmares and aversion to touch or loud noises) to give him a buffer and a support system. Ron, Hermione and Neville meet the Knockturn kids on the train and all end up sorting Slytherin.
24 Snape has some sort of curse on him that causes crippling pain whenever he tries to think of Harry by his correct last name. Harry is determined to forge a relationship with Theo Nott in order to get Norse language lessons
25 Theo had wanted to lay low and had hoped to just get through school and get away from his father, but he finds himself being drawn into Harry's and the Knockturn kids orbit and realizes he can't stay on the outside, so he is making vague plans to ask Harry for help getting away
26 Fenrir heads to the Ministry for his first Wizengamot session as the Potter Regent and through his conversation with Amelia Bones before the session even starts we learn about a lot of the ways they have been subverting the actual laws that should ensure equality for all beings in the magical community
27 when he steps into the Wiz… Magic bestows the Nott Lordship on him. Everyone is furious and then lose their minds when he declares himself Potter Regent
28 Madame Shesha breaks the compulsions on Snape’s mind and we learn he was having pain because his occulmancy shields were trying to warn him. Harry is going to pay for him to be cleansed and get some mind protection jewelry from the goblins. He gave a more specific oath directly to Harry too
29 the pack kids have started a music/drumming club. They did an end run around Dumbles to do it and he’s very angry
30 D pulled H into his office when there was no one around to stop him. S sends F a patronus about it. F uses wolf form to get there fast and tears D a new one. D tried to emotionally manipulate H into resorting and said he was going to send him back to the Dursleys. H was terrified, but F and Shesha calmed him and S gave examples of why his parents would have still loved and supported him even though he’s Slytherin
31 F meets with the Pack Kids plus Neville, Ron and Hermione. Hermione has tons of questions about werewolves and they realize she didn’t know she could use school owls to correspond with her parents, so she wasn’t going to have contact with them until when she went home at Yule. Someone is not giving no-mag important info. F is going to visit the Grangers -

Harry had never run faster in his life. He wasn’t thinking; his mind was stuck in a loop. Get out, get out, get out. He sprinted down the street. He needed help — he needed help now. He barely made the curve.
Everyone he knew would send him back here if Dumbledore asked them to. The thought was there before he could stop it.
Not the Order.
His feet hurt from how hard they were hitting the ground. His thoughts lagged behind, chasing him too. He didn’t slow down to let them catch up.

Harry runs.
He knows he can’t ask the people he knows for help — not about this.
So he runs to the one person he knows would never, under any circumstances, send him back to Dumbledore.

Ch 26 - 7/3/26

15 because of all the revelations and memories from Harry, Neville has been removed from Hogwarts too to be tutored. Harry had Dobby deliver gifts and letters to everyone who were his friends
16 we get to see the letters to the Weasleys, Remus, Hagrid and McGonagall. Remus’ is a very satisfying shaming one and the other 3 are grateful. Remus still gets 2 million to help him get out of Britain. McG gets brooms for the team, plus one for herself. Weasleys get a property on Daigon to use, get rent from or sell. H pays for a lawyer to represent Hagrid against the ministry to compensate him for the wrongful imprisonment and maybe get his wand rights back
17 Evan and Henry (used to be Harry and Sirius, they took a potion that changed them permanently, both magically and physically) have been settling into their new home in Australia. Evan has been getting to know his paternal grandparents via their portraits. The date of the first task passed and Evan didn't lose his magic
18 Neville is recovering and getting treatment for having been under the imperius. Augusta reads him Harry’s letter where he suggests Goblin healing might help his parents and they are going to look into it.
19 we get to see the Narcissa and Lucius reacting to Sirius’ will. Lucius gets himself thrown out of the bank and will have to do all banking by owl for a year. Narcissa now has option of divorcing Lucius and being a Black again. Andy is now Head of House Black. And via a headline we learn Hogwarts is being investigated for child endangerment
20 H and E go to the island they’ve supposedly lived on before moving to the house they now do. They go over their fake family history and E is struggling emotionally with having to replace his Potter family. He and H are learning occulmency so no one learns they changed their identities - Aurors in Britain are searching for Harry Potter still
21 N and A meet one of the healers who goes over his parents medical files and recommends a couple of hospitals in other countries that specialize in combining magical and non-magical healing and also allow blood magic which can be even more effective. A has picked the one in NZ and they will be moving there since it’s likely to take a couple of years. N’s tutor is really good and immediately noticed his wand wasn’t right for him
22 E and H set the house up to look like they lived there including a room for the fictional Granny who recently passed which supposedly precipitated them moving to where they live now. E wants to become an animagus, so we learn Mia and Monty were badgers because of WW2 and Grindelwald. They subtly got James to become one too. Your patronus changes when you find your form, so that fixes E being outed as Harry. E is scheduled for testing and being shown around his new school
23 E and go book a pitch and go flying. Meet 3 older kids from his new school, they want him to play on their team. One has old exams E can test himself against. They get another owl and Hedwig picks another snowy one
24 N and co. on the yacht to NZ. He gets letter from Hermione about what's been happening at the school with Crouch Jr being exposed, etc. There's an article about the arrests of him, Pettigrew and an unnamed person that lays out everything clearly and concisely
25 E is learning occlumency from his grandmother's portrait to lock away memories of the Dursleys etc. He's practicing quiddich with the kids he met so he can try out for a school team. They visit with one kid's family, Owain, and E sees a paper from Britain saying Sirius has been declared innocent. He overheard H(S) asking Owain's dad about portkeys and blows up at H because he thinks he wants to move back to Britain now that he's been exonerated
26 H is able explain he's not planning to resurrect Sirius Black, he was thinking they might take a portkey NY for xmas. E made seeker -

Summary
Harry is left in the dark by his friends. After a couple of weeks without a word from the magical world, Harry receives a letter from a R. Singulier. After this letter, Harry finally starts to think for himself and the world he is in. Because what does he know about the Dark cause and what does he know about himself and his friends? Are they really on Harry's side, or are they fair weather friends?
Follow Harry with a start of a new friendship and maybe a change in feelings.
