Summary
Sirius (an omega) and Regulus (a beta) Black run a domestic and family violence service, helping vulnerable people with finding the resources and support they need to get out of dangerous home environments. One day Remus Lupin comes to them for help.

"Would you like to tell me what brought you here, today?"
The alpha - Remus - looked down at his tightly clasped hands around the pillow he was holding and Sirius frowned. There was something different about this alpha, he decided. A sort of fragility that Sirius usually only ever associated with legitimate victims. Still, he knew it could be an act. He let the silence hang deliberately, patiently letting the man sort through his thoughts and did his best to relax into something he'd done a thousand times before.
"I…" the deep voice came out shaky, not raising his eyes to Sirius at all. Sirius found himself holding his breath as the man stuttered.
"I-I need help."

Summary
14 years ago Remus Lupin and Sirius Black lost everything. Two hopeful young lovers, torn apart piece by piece in a brutal war and the long, lonely years that followed. They slowly find their way back to each other in the midst of yet another war.
Remus is all too familiar with scars, but when Sirius shows up at his door informing him that Voldemort has risen again, he realizes that some of those wounds he thought had scarred over are still wide open and bleeding.
The sequel to my story Descend, which covers the events of the first war. Not strictly necessary to have read Descend to understand what is happening, though it would help provide context.

The four-by-four heaves its way down long, twisting lanes, little more than dirt tracks scuffed into the surrounding fields and hemmed in by serpentine walls of flat, grey stone. They truly are in the middle of nowhere: the countryside rushes past, all rolling green hills and vast, endless skies, and it's odious. Sirius wants to murder James with his bare hands.
Sirius and James accidentally find themselves on a Yorkshire farm during lambing season. The farmer’s son thinks that’s a bit annoying, actually.
