Vernon wanted to hug Chan. He wanted to fucking kneel and apologize and cry and tell him he wasn't on his right mind. That he didn't mean what he just said.
“Channie, I'm—I'm”
Chan laughed manically. Loud. It thundered through the suffocating silence.
“Oh, well maybe you're right, hyung.”
Vernon's breath hitched. Anxiety clawing his skin. He staggered to his feet, wanting to say something more.
The pain in Chan’s eyes faded, replaced by a calm, cold composure. His voice was flat, but the context of it was harsher, as if delivering a decree rather than furthering a discussion.
“Maybe they're far way better in bed than you. Now I realize something, honestly, in terms of everything, you're nothing compared to them, hyung.”
Chan was not finished, not yet.
The next words were what broke him, completely.
“—Maybe I'm so excited to form a pack without you in it.”
