The first time Dean and Cas kiss, it's not really even a kiss at all. It is not, however, the last kiss that they share.

Dean doesn't think about it. Not about what it means, not about what it makes them, not about how it affects him. This life—that's not how things work. It's just this, these "in the moment" moments that always slip right out of his fingers because he lets them. He doesn't try to hold onto them, and neither does Cas, and maybe they shouldn't.
Cas kisses him like no one else does, like no one else ever has. Dean absolutely does not think about it unless it's happening to him, and then he doesn't have the ability to think at all. What does it say about him that he occasionally kisses his best friend, who's a man? Dean doesn't know, and he doesn't really want to find out, either.

Summary
When something goes wrong on a hunt and Castiel is exorcised from his vessel, there’s only one option to save him: saying yes. And of course Dean’s going to say yes and let Castiel in. That’s his best friend. He just didn’t account for the whole “seeing each other’s thoughts and feelings” part of possession. Oops.

Dean wasn't exactly sure how he'd ended up here.
Three hours earlier, his evening had been perfectly ordinary.
No bars, no walls, no furious angels, certainly no horny douchebags.
Okay, maybe one horny douchebag. But that had been Dean himself, so that was fine.
Yeah, so, it had been one of those evenings. When it was just too much, that feeling inside him, that nagging, longing, craving of something (someone) he didn't dare put a name to. It had been there for a very long time now, only getting stronger over the years the more Dean tried to push it down. And try to push it down, he did.
Dean needed distraction. And he knew just where to find it.

Summary
During a hunt, Castiel becomes invisible to the Winchesters thanks to a teenage warlock who thinks he's giving Castiel a gift. Sam is pragmatic about it, but Dean is...unsettled that he can't see him. To help, Cas agrees to keep Dean apprised of his whereabouts by touching him. All the touching and the mysterious puzzle that Dean has to solve in order to break the spell work to break down Dean's defenses about his feelings for Cas. But in order to break the spell completely, Dean and Castiel both need to see and say some things they haven't before.
