Mu Qing sighed, a sound she was still exceptionally familiar with even after so many years. “I knew you were pretending to be asleep.”
“You woke me up, dipshit,” she croaked. Her throat felt scratchy and dry, almost to the point that it burned. She was dehydrated and the alcohol hadn’t helped any.
Mu Qing’s scoff was another familiar sound. Feng Xin managed to peel her eyes open and stare back at her. She didn’t know what possessed her to say it, but she was opening her mouth before she had another chance to rethink it. “You’re still so pretty.”
