With Devon missing, Maul's lightsaber was only half. He could fight efficiently without the other half, but he could never utilize his strongest form. He was at a constant disadvantage. It was as palpable as the way Rylee foolishly looked to him for reassurance, seeking the person he wrongfully assumed to be the second best for comfort in the wake of Devon's absence.
“Yes,” he said between grit teeth. “We will find her, and we will kill them.”
“If she hasn’t done so already,” Rylee said with a half-hearted smile.

Technoblade rarely travels in the Nether anymore. He'd come down here this time to gather a few materials he can't get in the Overworld, and then he was going to leave the place where he was born but not raised.
And then he’d heard the snuffling. It’s a quiet thing, sniffling mixed with high-pitched whines, and, oh, there go his instincts. Recognizing the sound even though he’s never heard it before- though he definitely made it in his youth.
There’s a piglet nearby, and they’re terrified.
He casts one final, forlorn glance at the gold he’d seen higher up, and then he turns to follow the sound.

The door opens with a slight squeak-- a problem in the hinges that Techno’s has to get around to fixing-- and the warm light from inside pours out onto the front porch. It’s a stark difference from the dim rain of the night, and already, Techno can feel a chill rush in.
Wilbur stands there with wide eyes, soaking wet from head to toe, with something small held up to his chest. It’s wrapped in what looks to have been his jacket.
“Ah.” Wilbur gives a half-hearted grin, ignoring the insistent meow coming from the bundle of fabric in his palms. “Hi.”
Techno slams the door shut.

Phil’s wings beat against the air once, twice—and then Technoblade screams again, and he’s diving toward the ground with a shriek that rips from his lungs with the force of a freight train. It shatters the sounds of battle, pulling heads up from their fights, making even the men surrounding his friend pause, eyes widening as the Angel of Death streaks toward them, a blur of dark feathers and extended talons tearing through the sky.
They have half a second to stumble away before he’s on them.

Tommy watched as Sam killed Ranboo. He watched and did nothing. The guilt weighs heavily in his heart. He lost one of his best friends, all because he was too cowardly to try and save him.
He does the best he can. He tries to take care of Tubbo, tries to move on like everyone tells him to. But he can't. All he sees when he closes his eyes is Ranboo dying over and over along with Pogtopia and Logstedshire.
And then he realizes how to get Ranboo back.
He needs to make Dream an offer he can't refuse. His life, in exchange for Ranboo.

Summary
There was a ringing clang that followed a sickening crunching noise and Phil watched as blood began to pool on the wood floor of the execution cage. Someone was screaming, the sound was horrifying and he couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. All eyes were on him and he realized it was him wailing like that. He clapped a hand over his mouth to muffle the noise as his vision blurred with tears. He couldn’t take his eyes off of the twisted body crushed beneath the anvil, long pink hair splayed across the dark wood, a totem of undying laying a few feet away from where Techno dropped it in panic. The bow in Phil’s hand slipped from his fingers and clattered against the floor of his porch.
Techno dropped his totem during the execution and Phil's arrow misses. In the blink of an eye, Phil is the final member of his family. And he knows it's his own fault.
