Slow, purposeful steps that crunch in discarded twigs in the underbrush. The white thing remains of a height with you and gives the impression of floating, and you think, somewhere in the tangle of sensations and panic that is your thought process right now, Oh, fuck, that's Jason.

Crystal Lake is not typically synonymous with "safe", but there is a cabin nestled in the woods where you are exactly that. “My sweet boy, I’ve got you. I’ll protect you,” Mommy soothes. “I won’t let anyone touch you.” Tim wants to believe her, he needs to. Mommy is smart, she always knows what she’s talking about. So she must know now too, despite how agonizingly frightening this is. “You’ll be safe in here, baby.”
Tim wants to pull back and look at her face, but even if the hand carding through his hair let up, there’s not enough light to make out her expression anyway. Tim doesn’t like the dark.
She continues, voice low and with a desperation he’s never heard from her before, “I need you to be very brave, Timothy. I need to go find a phone, and I need you to wait here for me, very quiet, just like hide and seek.”
“No,” he mewls before he can help himself, “No, Mommy, don’t go, please. Don’t leave me.”

Tim has used up all of his bandaids, but Mommy still won’t wake up. He doesn’t know what to do. He needs a grown-up’s help. Thankfully, he knows who Batman is. Batman can make it all better.

Dazai heard his mobile go off. Dazai groaned, stretching and crawling as much as he possibly could to reach the phone. It had slipped out of his hand when he’d crashed.Chuuya
Come on, just a little more, Dazai willed himself. Every small movement sent sparks of pain through him.
Just as his fingers grazed the phone, he was pulled back.
The screen blanked before lighting up again.

And as he stepped into the living room, the pit in his stomach widened into a void, acrid scent hitting him all at once.Chuuya finally had a full view of Dazai. And it did not look good. It wasn’t only his face that was blank — he was staring at the ceiling with a similar dead-eyed stare, completely unresponsive.

When Chuuya "surprised" Dazai with news of some unexpected guests, he thought his day couldn't get any more worse. All Chuuya's fault obviously. And then it does get worse.

Shane Hollander knows he’s not a small guy. Years of hockey and workouts have built up his muscles, and lucky genetics from his father’s side places him just shy of six feet. He’s checked hockey players half a foot and several pounds more than him, knocked Scott Hunter into the ice in the one fight he’s ever actually thrown hands in. But as much as Shane loves the game, the fast movements, passes, and team camaraderie, there were times where he could only feel regret at following the path of athletic fame. He puts on the media smile he practices in the mirror as he brushes his hair each day, uses the bright lights of press conferences to erase his view of the audience, and keeps his answers simple and focused on hockey.
The number of people outside the arena still makes him feel crushed in on all sides, small. Eyes trained on his face, cameras flashing, pens and cell phones being passed into his hands. The itch of it all settles under his skin.
