In November 2015, both bands were riding high with success, and interested in only pushing further. Neither band were aware of the other, and had no idea they'd meet while staying in a hotel in the middle of the forest. They were on the way to more shows, interviews: the life of rock stars and pop stars, musicians and singers.
Nobody expected to be caught up in the midst of a separatist movement, the Militia of the North taking the state and putting into lock down. They fled, refugees of the war in the middle of a cold and snowy Montana winter, and found a cabin in the woods to be their refuge. Eighteen months on, not much has changed. Montana is still in the midst of the civil war, the separatist militia hunkering down for the long haul and the American US holding the borders. In the mountain wilderness, the war is strangely distant, on the shortwave radio as a bad story, nightmares beyond their control, but the day to day still has to happen.
These five vignettes describe just one day in the lives of all twelve, from morning to evening.

Megan ‘Meg’ Nikolaev is a normal girl with too much energy for her tiny body. She lives in the woods, just outside town, and goes to school with her siblings, Claudette, Dwight, and Jake. Her mother is a wonderful woman who wears a veil outdoors, and is strong, mighty, and powerful. Her name is Anna, and she is Meg’s idol.
People think her family is weird, especially her mother. They whisper about her tendency to wear a veil, about the difference in appearance of her children, of her clear accent and difficulty with words. Meg and her siblings defend their mother, of course.
Luckily, there are other rumors that the folks of this tiny town like to talk about. Disappearances all over the world, both of random people but also of known criminals; murderers, maniacs, people who seem like they would come right out of a horror movie; all gone in a flash, with no trace left behind. Well... almost no trace left behind. At the site of each disappearance, they always find footprints of heavy gardening boots which lead to no where. Boots with soles that are designed like the paw prints of a hare. -

The Wolfolk have been resisting the Committee's attempts to bring them into the fold for the past seventy-five years, but things are beginning to come to a head. The Committee; currently led by Kang Jinsun, a cold and calculating Alpha whose ruthless pursuit of the Wolfolk and recent crack down on those who would avoid the MATCH Program is beginning to stir feelings of dissent in the general population.
On the island of Saeloun, the Shore Pack- the oldest and most powerful of the Taliian settlements- is led by Alpha Kim Kyuwook while high in the mountains, the Village of Sangil rots from the inside out.
In the ruins of Jeonju the Alpha of the Choi Pack has passed away, leaving his young son San to lead in his place.
While away in the Compounds outside of Seoul, Yeonjun struggles with a gift he can hardly stand to bear. Inside the Walls, locked away inside the Sanatorium, a man with a similar gift struggles to find his way in a world that looks to only be made up of varying shades of gray.

Just give them a sec to think of it...Or, the engaged parent version of Hunger Games in which District 12 took full advantage of the being forgotten by the Capitol and questioned the real reason they lacked steady electricity.

Wangxianficrecs post here. (Archived.)This is a very sweet story wherein essentially wwx and lwj take the Wen remnants and start up a little village at the Burial Mounds. Author doesn't lie when she says it's fluff. There are some bumps in the road, but mostly it's them being in love and making Happy Families. As author says, "This fic has been unrepentant wish-fulfillment and I've loved every second of it :D" It’s a great fic for when you’re having a Bad Day.
Also, watching Lan Wangji blossom into a downright saucy, sarcastic little shit, is delightful:

“He is family now, is he not?” Clan Leader Jiang demanded, gesturing to Lan Wangji as he looked at Wei Ying. “Then can I not speak to him this way? He was certainly rude to me earlier.”
“We don't want to scare him off so quickly, Jiang Cheng,” Wei Ying warned, as if such a thing would ever be possible.
“If you didn't scare him away, nothing will.”
Quietly secreting the letter from Xichen on his person, Lan Wangji chose his moment to speak. “There is no need for concern, Wei Ying. If being in the same family means being rude to each other, strange though the idea may be, your brother will find me more than up to the challenge.”
Staring between them flatly with an unimpressed expression, Clan Leader Jiang ultimately seemed to place the blame at Wei Ying's feet. “This is definitely your influence.”
“I swear, it's just like I told Senior Sister!” Wei Ying argued animatedly, gesturing towards Lan Wangji with enthusiasm. “He was always like this.”

Lan Wangji is such a darling, he stands there in the rain on Qiongqi Path, mute, unable to come up with the words, and slowly, the Wens and wwx pass him by and he just. Steps on his sword and follows them. And when he sees what they'll need, he goes home and gets it, brings it back, and moves in. Pretty much all without saying anything, (He sends a paperman through the magical barriers around the Burial Mounds to get wwx's attention, and that's adorable, too.)

__________Well DAMN, this starts with a bang, the Jins stating that wwx and the wens (vanished from their ken) should be hunted down and brought to justice. This makes lwj... feel some things. (None of them good.)
Story is from lwj's POV -- and his voice is FANTASTIC, and author's style is dreamy and vivid, which brings his perspective to life. He follows wwx and the Wens, and eventually finds them, hidden behind talismans and barriers in a far corner of the wide, wild world. He joins them, but acceptance of him is slow (except for A-Yuan), and wwx is not doing well at all, draining himself until there's nothing left. But slowly their lives congeal, homes are wrestled from the ruin of the abandoned town, crops are planted, wwx and lwj learn to understand each other better (and lwj is THOROUGHLY commited, although quietly sad that he'll never see his brother again).
Culminates in an endeavor which shreds lwj's back (like the 33 lashes) and very nearly kills him and forces this tiny Wen Clan to make a choice.

“Bright-gege, where’s Xian-gege ?”
“He is— occupied.” The explanation is insufficient, but he does not know what else to say. Perhaps a-Yuan is familiar with Wei Ying’s clouded moods, because the boy frowns in something resembling recognition.
“Is he still sad?”
“I believe so.”
He considers this. “When a-Yuan is sad, Xian-gege makes it better.”
Wangji has no idea how to explain the wrenching, sucking sorrow of Wei Ying’s situation, of the estrangement of his family, how he has given up everything he has known to sequester himself in the furthest corner of the world in the hopes of keeping a-Yuan and all the rest safe. It is something even he cannot conceive in its entirety, everything Wei Ying has willingly let go in the name of doing what is right. He does not have the words to explain it to the boy.
“Sometimes,” he says, stilted, “the only thing one can do is be sad.”
*** The writing is often just pure poetry: ***
“You should rest,” he murmurs, thumb sweeping against the curve of his knee, cloth bunching and unbunching with each stroke. Wei Ying watches the motion and meets his gaze. This is how he looks kissed: mouth bruise-dark, color high on his cheeks, neat-combed hair mussed where Wangji has threaded fingers through it. Wangji memorizes it, folds it thrice and tucks it in his chest, buried among the roots of the sapling seeded within.

When Wen Qing closes her eyes, she can see flashes from the night before. Rain and lightning and clouds of resentful energy. The huddled pool of A-Ning’s body. Wei Wuxian playing Chenqing, fey and dangerous, like a figure from a myth. Horrors and death and Hanguang-jun standing under a paper umbrella. She can hear the echoes too: screams from the sect overseers and from her own people mingled. Her desperate shouting. And the unearthly music of the flute.
Now they are in the Burial Mounds. The dirt here is fine as ash and dry as bone. Clouds of resentful energy swirl through the eerie forest. When they arrived, terrified and exhausted, they crept in through the trees like ghosts. But she lives, and so does A-Ning. And Wei Wuxian promised to heal him.

Wangxianficrecs post here. (Archived.)I loved this, but I'm very tired, so you just get an excerpt and tags. Great story, though, through Wen Qing's eyes. Things go differently at the Burial Mounds in this story, as different characters move in and the Qiongqi Path ambush is avoided.
*** This is from Ch. 10, so near-ish the end, but it's awesome, so: ***
Wen Qing has suffered through hunger and thirst and loss after loss; she has endured so much. But she will not endure this.
“Stop it!” she cries. “Stop! How dare you? How dare you come here in judgement of us all? Do you really think yourself so much above us, you who sat by and let us be tortured and killed by your overseers? You who complained when they died, but accepted their word that innocent members of the Wen clan simply fell down a hill? Do you know what happened to A-Ning and I before the end of the war? We were in the Qishan Wen dungeons because we helped Wen Ruohan’s enemies.”
No one moves in the whole clearing. She takes a deep breath, and charges on.
“You blame Wei Wuxian and you blame Wen Ning, but you harbor filth in your heart and will not admit it. Jin Guangyao was ready to marry his own sister, in full knowledge of her identity and without her consent. Lan Xichen wouldn’t take a stand to stop him, stood by and let our people be killed. Look at us standing here! The people living here are babies and grandmothers and your own families. You come here to kill us or imprison us, who have not taken any lives and simply want to live here in peace. You come here in your best robes with blood dripping from your hands. Shame on all of you!”

When trying to transfer Shen Yuan from the real world to Proud Immortal Demon Way, the System runs into an error. The transfer is not complete.
Shen Yuan is dropped off at the foot of a mountain aware of two things: he's in the story, and the Shen Qingqiu of this world is not only aware but thinks he tried to possess his body — and he's PISSED. Shen Yuan tries to opt out and live a simple life on what locals tell him is a monster-infested mountain no one in their right mind would bother with.
Sounds like a great hiding spot!

Very sweet story of Youngwoo and Junho living on a deserted island together. There are some mishaps, but really, life there isn't too hard, and of course, they fall in love. And Youngwoo makes friends with the local dolphin pod, and even gets to hang out with a whale(!). It's a slow burn with loads of pining because Junho respects that she's neurodivergent and doesn't want to put her in an uncomfortable situation, since she has nowhere else to go and no one else to talk to. Meanwhile, she's not sure she's reading the signs right, and doesn't want to make a fool of herself. Bless these idiots.

“Stevie! I am helping!” With his free hand, Eddie motions to the gaggle of animals clamoring for their attention.
“You’re making another Tiktok video. That’s not helping.” Steve sighs but his lips pull up in a hint of a smile.
Jabbing a finger into Steve’s side to make him yelp and skitter away, Eddie taps the record button and grins at the camera on his phone, “Hey-howdy-hey folks! Welcome to another beauuu-ti-ful morning here at Homesteddie Farms! Say hi to the farm fans, Steve.”
Steve huffs a breath, before shaking his head and saying in a fond tone, “Hey farm fans!” Then he grunts out an 'oof' as one of the goats stands up on it’s hind legs, head butts Steve in the thigh and begins to nibble on the raggedy bottom of his cut off overall shorts. “Madmartigan! Get down.”

Summary

Summary
In the wake of yet another overtly public scandal, the lead guitarist for the folk metal band Corroded Coffin is sent away to his Uncle’s town of Bumfuck Nowhere, Indiana to spend his summer taking care of himself.
Which said lead guitarist certainly doesn’t need. Because Chrissy is overreacting, and Eddie doesn’t need to be treated like a Victorian child with a prescription for ocean breezes, he needs to be in LA with his band, practicing. Writing. Rehearsing.
He’s fine.
But his manager’s will is iron, and Eddie arrives at his uncle’s door feeling much like the homeless teen he was a mere decade ago, tail between his legs as he asks for more than he’s ever been able to give, and taking more than he can ever hope to repay.
With Wayne taking his arrival in stride, Eddie is forced to integrate himself into this new, slower-paced reality. He harvests chicken eggs. Churns mayonnaise. Takes a stab at home repair and weeds Wayne’s garden, all while eyeing the unfairly hot beekeeper next door.
However as the summer progresses, and Eddie falls faster and deeper than he ever imagined, this new reality forces him to grapple with what his fame has given him, and what it has taken away.
