“Mu-shidi,” Yue Qingyuan speaks up, taking his seat at the head of the table. “Have you heard of this curse?”
“I’m afraid not,” Mu Qingfang says, shaking his head. “A curse of compulsion, with dire consequences for disobedience… I’ve heard of many similar things, but not exactly this.”
“For all we know, the perpetrator invented this little trap just for us,” Shen Qinqiu says, tapping his fan dangerously. “Tailormade to ruin us.”
“I have no secrets to hide,” Liu Qingge says, and lifts his chin challengingly at Shen Qingqiu, who bristles in return. “Do you?”
“Ah, Liu-shidi, if you don’t have any secrets then you should get some real quick!” Shang Qinghua says with bright, manic cheer, his smile and his eyes a little too wide. “The consequences for not meeting the curse’s requirements would be very very bad!”

The Peak Lords of Cang Qiong Mountain Sect are stricken with a curse that forces them to reveal a secret, and they all must submit to this curse or suffer the consequences...

Fingon is married. He does not remember it, and he does not want it.

Fingon is married. He cannot understand it, and no one will listen.
Or, how the sacred act of Elvish marriage can be perverted and consumed, and how Fingon is caught within such a trap.
And Chapter 2:
A journey of healing, and the realization that there is still a love between Fingon and Maedhros so vast it cannot be broken.

Nerdanel ignored the protests and held up a head of red leaf lettuce. “This is a vulva,” she said.
“That is a vulva,” Turukáno echoed dutifully.
“You cannot simply tear off the tough outer leaves to reach the tender inner petals,” Nerdanel said. “Gentle and slow is the way to approach. Massage the outside. Use your fingers, tongue, lips. Don’t be afraid to really salivate on it. Most importantly, use your imagination, and watch how the leaves respond to your touch. Here, you try.” She handed each pupil a head of something green and leafy.
Findekáno stared at his iceberg lettuce. “Do they, the real thing I mean, do they really have leaves?” Findekáno whispered to Makalaurë.
Makalaurë shook his head no. At least, he didn’t think so.

Summary
There were two young Finwëan men named after stars living with Círdan at the end of the First Age. One of them, Eӓrendil, abruptly disappeared, his fate known only in legends. Around the same time, the other, Gil-galad, abruptly *appeared*, his origins shrouded in myth.
But like they say of Superman comics… there’s no way Clark Kent could be Superman. We all know where Superman lives—what would he be doing running around in disguise? That’s ridiculous, right?
Right?
*Look. It wasn’t like Eӓrendil had planned to disobey (another!) edict of the Valar, fake his death, lie about his identity, cheat fate, meet his apparently-not-dead sons, and become the king of the remaining Exiles. It all just… snowballed.*Bookmarked by below_et_almost

The originals of the following pages were received in a bundle, arranged in an approximate order but bound only in the temporary fashion customary for field notes in the early 1500s. I have transcribed them for your archives, though certain elements, such as the flora pressed between some of the pages or the stains on others, are irreproducible and I have noted them accordingly. The headings are mine, and the transcription also includes my commentary on some of the more obscure points in the text as well as my reproduction of the original marginalia. Although the identities of the respective authors were evident from the handwriting in the original, in this copy I have taken the liberty of inserting indications as to their identity.

Ahahahaha oh this is great. M&M are so toxic and volatile and Gil-Galad’s danger boner… nice. Maedhros’ drunken lust and longing, calling for Gil-Galad’s father, drunken and inconsiderate even as he’s loving Fingon in his mind. That tender love is for Maedhros and a memory, not the real Gil-Galad who’s there. Maglor orchestrating, getting both brothers what they want while also knowing this is going to hurt the brother he’s mad at later. But also enabling Maedhros, who badly wants this but doesn’t want to want this so if he’s drunk and Maglor’s orchestrating it’s not his fault. The smut is both emotionally delicious and hot. LOL at M&M going from ‘oh you child’ to sex. I also love Gil-Galad’s description of Maglor’s Ñoldorin finery and style, the long hair dressed in jewels and the long, jeweled nails and embroidered velvet and purple silk. Elaborate and projecting an image of leisure. Maglor’s face beautific despite the hat sticking in his blood.

Summary
“Birds don’t have cocks, motherfucker,” Maedhros shoved Finarfin in the chest, then did it again for posterity, moving closer to him with every sentence. “Only three percent of birds have anything resembling cocks. Ducks have cocks, incidentally, but a duck is a Christian bird, isn’t it? Appam and duck curry for Christmas, isn’t it? You better not be calling me a duck, or you’ll see what I do to you missionaries trying to convert me“—he jabbed Finarfin in the chest—“dickhead, you have American cable in your big house but don’t watch Wild Kingdom? Bloody pedestrian. Birds with cocks! Show me one cuckoo cock and I’ll show you mine.”

This isn't how the end was supposed to happen: It was supposed to be quick and glorious, a swift and ultimate victory against the darkness that had plagued the world since its birth, not drawn out and bloody like a siege against an impenetrable fortress.
Now he's lost and alone, but that doesn't really feel all that different from how it's been his whole life. The difference now is that someone else is lost and alone with him.

I really loved this fic, and the ending really warmed me. Elrond’s confusion and hurt and the kindness he found in Kayla’s world, both giving and receiving, really came through. And the mystery throughout of what was real, what was happening, kept me hooked.

Summary
"Surely not." At the sound of his voice the great shaggy shape stirred, and turned its head. Behind him Asar called out, asking a question, but Maglor barely heard him. He fell to his knees in the wet sand, staring into eyes that gleamed with ancient Treelight and even older starlight. Then his face was being licked clean of tears by a giant tongue, and he was both laughing and crying as he flung his arms around the dog's shoulders, burying his face in wet fur, hardly caring that it was still crusted with sand that scraped against his cheeks. "Huan, what are you doing here?"

I love this story of Maglor and his community. I love him building his own Imladris, and all these OCs living their lives in Harad post-Sauron. The sense of an island of calm despite the danger outside. The way that the unrest caused by the priests just… builds in the atmosphere, and it’s still normal life but there’s a growing fear.

This story gripped me. The feeling of despair and endurance, where endurance isn't a hopeful act but just what needs to be done, and so it is done. Maedhros' deteriorating state, his little breakdowns with his councillor(s) and Finweg, his performance of Fell Lord Maedhros over practical concerns for safety. The ruthlessness of his his rationing and sumptuary edicts and supply distribution favoring the soldiers (who are still hungry), no less ruthless for his lack of quarter given to himself or for their necessity.

Summary
"My Elf, my friend, my love, my Legolas! Long will I mourn you in silence and secrecy, and find no joy even in the greatest revelries of my people. Curse and bless the requests of Wizards in equal measure! Would that I had never known so great a loss - but then I might never have known so great a love, either, and that would have been a sorry, ignorant life indeed.”
So spoke Gimli, son of Glóin, Grave-Master of Erebor, to the Sea and the shore and all things green and beautiful, and to the Elves' star of hope, flaring into brightness overhead; for they, he felt, would understand, as none other ever could.
(Or: To lay an Elf's ghost to rest is far more complicated than Certain Wizards have advertised.)
