Kabru gave a nod as she approached, instantly regretting having come empty-handed to the party even though he was not expected to bring anything this time. He received a surprisingly enthusiastic handshake, while Laios got a quick, obligatory hug, the kind where the participants' bodies didn't actually touch at all even though it seemed like they would, with hands awkwardly hovering in the air just above the other's back. Was it Laios that kept his distance for fear of making Marcille uncomfortable, or was it something she insisted on? Well, they seemed satisfied with it, in any case. Once the greetings were done, they finally took their seat around the table. Kabru watched Laios from the corner of his eye as he sat in the chair, and let out a discreet sigh of relief when he managed to settle in.
